Hello 👋 I’m Joseph. I’m reading, writing, cooking, and climbing my way through life.

I’m a published writer of fiction, personal essays, and creative non-fiction. Besides what I can convince other outlets to publish, I write a lot on my personal website, the Writeabout.

I’m also a commercial writer for hire — I specialize in e-commerce copywriting and can do a whole lot more too. But we can talk about that some other time.

I’m an amateur chef who loves cooking for other people — most especially over an open fire after a long day of working up an appetite in the outdoors. Squatting next to the fire, keeping an eye on the vegetable medley in the dutch oven, poking at the fire, and drinking beer — I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be.

Any other spare minute in the day I spend reading. Every year I choose a theme to read to, alternating between genre and a national literature each year. In 2019, I read all Russian literature. In 2020, it was all verse and plays. 2021 is dedicated to SF&F, mostly trilogies that I can really sink my teeth into.
